IAS Practice Manager -
Bernadette Ulleweit
Hello! My name is Bernadette Ulleweit. I am the Practice Manager at the Institute of Aesthetic and Cantera Spa and at the Department of Plastic Surgery located in Glen Ellyn.
I am a graduate of Northern Illinois University School of Nursing and completed my Masters Degree in Health Systems Management from Rush University in Chicago. I started my nursing career at Rush University Medical Center. At Rush, I worked on a medical unit, the surgical intensive care unit and in the outpatient Hepatology clinic as a clinical nurse coordinator. Next, I moved to United Healthcare and worked as a Case Manager. Here I was able to learn in depth how managed care and insurance companies worked with hospitals and physicians to provide appropriate care to its patients at the right time.
My desire to gain a more focused appreciation for healthcare operations led me to Rush University where I obtained my Masters Degree in Health Systems Management. After completion of this degree, I joined Deloitte’s Healthcare Consulting division in New York City. I worked with many insurance companies and hospitals on strategic planning and process improvement. So, over the past 15 years, I have worked in many areas of healthcare: from bedside nursing at Rush University Medical Center to healthcare consulting with Deloitte and finally practice management here at DuPage Medical Group.
My well-rounded experience in healthcare makes me appreciate the entire patient life cycle: from bed-side patient care to insurance authorization to out-patient care, and the processes, policies and staff that affect the life cycle.
I enjoy managing both sides of plastic surgery: the cosmetic and the reconstructive. I am able to see all the good that plastic surgeons bring to patient’s lives on a daily basis. Whether a patient comes in to see one of our physicians as a result of trauma or because they want to improve an aspect of their looks, the impact is powerful. Patient’s walk out with a new sense of hope and a profound impact on their self-esteem.
